Waterloo Vapes provides a vast array of high quality vapes, vape juice, and hookah smoking accessories to the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
Reporting to the Administration, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for evaluating, organizing and the company's purchasing activities.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Review existing suppliers and contracts for cost-effectiveness and to ensure ongoing feasibility. Continuously monitor suppliers, contracts and fluctuations in vendors prices.
- Evaluate current cost and quality of goods to ensure that all procured goods meet required quality standards and specifications.
- Manage and build strong and positive supplier and shipper relationships to ensure the best possible pricing, availability, and quality.
- Negotiate contracts, prices and timelines with shippers and suppliers when needed.
- Development and controlling of procurement budget, including plans for cost reductions if needed.
- Conduct local market research and evaluate current contracts and inventory for long-term market feasibility.
- Continuously monitor sales, client feedback and inventory, participate in the implementation of promotions and sales strategies and to change product lines, suppliers and quantities accordingly.
- Keep up to date with Canadian and global trends and regulations in regards to the industry.
- Receive and confirm delivery of goods, monitor and confirm that the quality and specifications of goods meet contractual standards.
- Prepare and maintain an organized system of records including sales contracts, shipping documents
- Prepare and make regular reports to administration.
Professional Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 2-3 years of previous experience in procurement role
- Previous experience in managing SMEs or departments in SMEs an asset
- Be willing to work flexible hours if needed in order to contact suppliers and shippers in other time zones.
- Excellent planning, organizational and negotiation skills
- Versatile and able to work autonomously
- Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Experience with Chinese suppliers and shipping companies and/or knowledge of Chinese language an asset.
