We are currently looking to fill the position of “Restaurant Cook” at our restaurant at the Bowmanville location to start as soon as possible.
Ideal candidates will be fluent in English and have a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and experience in a similar position of two (2) to less than three (3) years. Salary will be $17 per hour and this full time permanent job. The total working hours in a week will be 37.5 hours and working will be in day shift.
Candidates should be able to pass a criminal record check and be able to stand for extended periods in a physically demanding and fast paced environment. Ability to handle repetitive tasks and attention to detail are key as well as working under pressure.
The location is in an urban environment. Successful candidates must be flexible, ensure that they have good judgement, be a team player and reliable. Taking initiative, client focus and organization are also key qualities.
Specific skills include preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods, preparing and cooking special meals for patients as instructed by dietitian or chef. Duties will include planning menus, determining size of food portions, estimating food requirements and costs. Successful candidates will also monitor and order supplies, Inspect kitchens and food service areas, Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food. Other duties include supervising kitchen staff and helpers, maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, clean kitchen and work areas, recruit and hire staff, organize and manage buffets and banquets and generally manage kitchen operations.
