Automotive Mechanic

Employment Requirements:

• Red Seal Certification desired
• Automotive Service Technician Provincial Certification/License preferred
• Completion of high-school and college diploma or vocational certification program in automotive technology is preferred
• At least 2 years of experience as an automotive mechanic
• Red Seal endorsement is an asset
• Must have proficiency with all the tools of the trade: auto shop machines and power tools, electronic diagnostic equipment
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Good verbal communication skills and ability to work with a team

Job duties:

• Diagnose and troubleshoot all components of a vehicle systems using diagnostic equipment, including engine, fuels system, electrical, steering, breaks, suspension and transmission;
• Discuss/confirm diagnoses with supervisor and advice customers on the conditions of a vehicle and required repairs;
• Repair or replace components of engines and other vehicle systems by hand using power tools and repair equipment;
• Perform scheduled vehicle testing and maintenance such as oil changes and lubrication, brakes, tune ups as per recommended guidelines;
• Adjust brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws and perform other small vehicle repairs and adjustments;
• Provide an overview of the work performed to the customers and give recommendations on maintenance;
• Perform other related auto shop duties as required.
