Job Requirements
Experience
10+ years of work experience as a head chef in a restaurant setting
Job Duties
- Plan menus and/or create new recipes in accordance with customer demand and preferences
- Supervise the activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food and ensure that food meets quality standards
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
- Consult with and plan menus for clients for catering events or specialty functions
- Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs and, when necessary, arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
