Roofer

Duties:

·      To safely handle and store propane, torches, solvents and adhesives

·      Installation, repairing or replacing shingles, sheet metal flashings or of specialized roofing 

        materials and supplies

·      Be familiar with a variety of roofing systems.

·      Organize and move construction materials, tools and equipment

·      Helps other workers if needed

·      Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs

·      Secure all materials at the end of each day

·      Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings

·      Apply waterproof coatings to surfaces below or above ground level

·      Repair metal roofs using hand and power tools

·      Install, repair or replace single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials such as

        modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions

·      Estimate costs and materials

·      Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms

·      Emergency leak calls; repairs of membranes and shingles

·      Waterproofing

·      Seasonal leaf and debris cleanup

·      Roof inspections and condition reports

Skills:

·      Ability of doing physical jobs such as lifting heavy objects, moving, standing, climbing a ladder

·      Job planning skills

·      Knowledge of variety of roofing systems

·      Must be okay with being outdoor in all weather conditions

·      Ability to work at heights

·      Ability to move to various locations, commercial and residential

·      Knowledge of safety procedures

·      Fast-paced environment

·      Physically demanding

·      Bending, crouching, kneeling

·      Hand-eye-co-ordination

·      Repetitive tasks

·      Heavy lifting of 45 kg (100lbs)

Requirements:

·      5+ years experience in roofing

·      Valid drivers license
