Floor Layer / Flooring Installer
AVS Construction Inc. is seeking a reliable and hardworking Floor Layer to join our growing construction and renovation team. We specialize in commercial storefront renovations, franchise build-outs, tenant improvements, and residential restoration projects throughout Southwestern Ontario. Our work includes complete turnkey renovations, from demolition and site preparation through to the installation of finished flooring systems.
Location: Paris, Ontario (various job sites throughout Ontario)
Wage: $27.00 per hour
Hours: 30–40 hours per week, with occasional overtime as required

Start Date: As soon as possible
The successful candidate will work alongside the business owner and project teams on commercial and residential renovation projects. Work may take place in retail stores, franchise locations, office spaces, condominiums, apartment units, and residential homes undergoing renovation or insurance-related restoration.
This is a physically demanding position that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in active construction environments. Previous flooring experience is considered an asset; however, we are willing to train individuals who demonstrate a strong aptitude for construction work, tool usage, and hands-on tasks.
Remove existing flooring materials and prepare work areas for installation
Assist with demolition and site preparation activities
Inspect, measure, and mark surfaces to determine material requirements
Read and interpret basic drawings, layouts, and project specifications
Conduct moisture, temperature, and surface condition assessments before installation
Measure, cut, and install underlay, underpadding, and flooring materials
Install vinyl, laminate, hardwood, carpet, and other resilient flooring systems
Perform glue-down, stretch-in, and other carpet installation methods
Install trims, transitions, baseboards, and finishing components
Repair or replace damaged flooring materials as required
Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment
Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times
Follow company safety policies and use personal protective equipment
No formal education required
Previous construction, renovation, flooring, carpentry, or general labour experience is an asset
Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials on a regular basis
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver's licence is considered an asset
Reliable transportation to reporting locations is preferred
Work is performed at commercial and residential construction sites. Employees may be exposed to dust, noise, construction debris, and varying weather conditions when loading materials or travelling between projects. Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting, and carrying of materials is required.
