Responsibilities

Tasks

• Inspect, measure, and mark surfaces to be covered and determine material requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan work
• Remove existing floor coverings, debris, and contaminants and prepare subfloors by cleaning, leveling, and repairing surfaces
• Conduct moisture, pH, temperature, and other site condition tests prior to installation
• Measure, cut, and install underlay, underpadding, and flooring materials
• Install a variety of floor coverings including vinyl, laminate, hardwood, tile, and other resilient materials
• Perform carpet installations including glue-down, double-bond, and stretching using tools such as knee kickers
• Install carpeting on floors, walls, outdoor areas, and other surfaces as required
• Install finishing components such as baseboards, trims, and materials on countertops or raised platforms
• Inspect completed installations and repair or replace damaged flooring as needed
• Estimate materials and assist with project planning, scheduling, and preparation
• Load, unload, and transport materials and maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Use hand and power tools safely and follow all workplace health and safety procedures
