Prepare and clean surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting, and steam-cleaning; remove old wallpaper and loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls; and sandpaper and apply sealer.
Apply paint, wallpaper and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces.
Mix and thin paint to obtain desired colour and texture.
Measure, cut, and apply wallpaper or fabric to walls.
Advise customers on selection of color schemes and choice of wall coverings.
Erect scaffolding and swing stages and place ladders to reach surfaces to be painted.
Estimate costs and materials required.
Follow safety procedures and maintain clean work environment.
Education: Completion of secondary school is required.
Experience:
Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program
OR
At least two (2) years of full-time work experience in the painting trade (residential or commercial).
Language: English
