We at GL Chemtec are looking for experienced organic chemists to join our team and take up senior roles in our Organic Synthesis Laboratory.

About the Positions

·         Job title: Senior Organic Chemist

·         Vacancies: ONE

·         Type of employment: Permanent full-time

·         Compensation: $38.46/hour

·         Hours: 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

·         Location: 1456 Wallace Road, Oakville, Ontario, L6L 2Y2

As a Senior Organic Chemist, you will apply your expertise in organic, organometallic, and polymer chemistry to synthesize new compounds destined for various drug discovery and new material design projects.

 

Your primary responsibilities will include

·         Interface with customers’ technical teams and provide regular updates via teleconferences and presentations.

·         Independently plan and help to execute the synthesis of literature and non-literature compounds within a specified timeframe

·         Help interpret NMR, GCMS, HPLC, and LC-MS to support ongoing projects.

·         Develop work-up and purification techniques for target molecules using automated column chromatography, recrystallizations, etc.

·         Contribute to drafting final technical reports, presentations, and other required documents

·         Contribute to the growth and training of junior team members

·         Investigate new ideas for novel drug discovery and drug design projects

 

Requirements

·         A master’s degree or Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field from a recognized university

·         Three or more years of relevant industry experience

·         Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory safety standards and procedures with experience in compliance

·         Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

·         Strong time management skills with experience successfully managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously

·         Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

·         Great teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently and respectfully with group members

·         Positive mental attitude is a must!
