Job Duties:
• Operate large mine haul trucks to safely transport ore, waste rock, or overburden within the mine site according to production and safety requirements.
• Operate Scooptram (LHD) equipment to load, haul, and dump ore, waste, and backfill materials in accordance with production requirements.
• Perform pre-operational inspections by checking oil levels, tire condition, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety systems before each shift.
• Follow designated haul routes and communicate with dispatch and loading units to ensure efficient and coordinated operations.
• Load and unload materials in cooperation with shovel, loader, or excavator operators, ensuring even distribution and truck stability.
• Monitor gauges, indicators, and controls to ensure proper vehicle performance and promptly report any mechanical issues.
• Maintain accurate shift and production records, including loads hauled, distance, fuel usage, and operating hours.
• Operate safely in challenging northern conditions, including low visibility, icy terrain, and extreme temperatures.
• Comply with all mine site safety regulations, including PPE use, traffic control procedures, and environmental standards.
Skills Required:
• Willingness to work flexible shifts and ability to travel to customer sites
• Experience with preventative maintenance procedures
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and in remote field conditions
• Must be able to obtain valid driver's license
Experience Required:
• 1-2 years of experience operating heavy equipment or completion of a one- to two-year apprenticeship program in heavy equipment operation
• Additional training will be provided
Education Required:
• High School Diploma
Wage & Hours: $37.00
• Number of hours per day: 8-12 (may vary)
• Number of days per week: 5-7 (may vary)
• Number of hours per week: 40 hours on average
• Overtime starts after how many hours: after 88 hours bi-weekly
• Shift rotation (as applicable): on-call work; rotation schedule available: 5-5-4 days in/out or 2 weeks in - 2 weeks out depending on the workload
• Premiums: A site premium of $1 to $4 (based on distance) per hour for all hours physically worked at designated mine sites; underground premium: $4/h; night shift premium of $1.50 per hour when applicable.
