Experience Requirements:
|
-
5 years of progressive experience operating and programming CNC machinery in a manufacturing, machining, or steel fabrication environment.

Experience training, mentoring, and supporting junior machinists in machine setup, programming, machining techniques, quality control procedures, and workplace safety practices would be an asset

Extensive experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC equipment, including supporting machine operators and machinists with complex setups, tooling requirements, and machining processes.

Advanced ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and technical specifications to support machining operations and provide technical guidance to machinists and machine operators.

Advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to apply GD&T principles when interpreting engineering drawings, setting up machining operations, and verifying part conformity.

Advanced knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, inside and outside micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and related inspection tools.

Advanced knowledge of tooling systems, including tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other machine accessories used in CNC machining operations.

Ability to inspect and verify finished products for compliance with quality and dimensional requirements and provide guidance to machinists and operators on corrective actions when non-conformities are identified.

Advanced ability to troubleshoot complex machining issues and diagnose equipment, tooling, programming, and process-related malfunctions to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

Advanced ability to fabricate, modify, and repair replacement parts, tooling components, fixtures, and machine accessories as required to support production and minimize downtime.

Experience performing routine machine maintenance and maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Ability to lead machining operations with minimal supervision while effectively coordinating and collaborating with other machinists, operators, supervisors, and other departments.

Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to quality workmanship.

Strong mathematical skills, including arithmetic, geometry, trigonometry, and basic algebra, with the ability to perform calculations required for CNC setup, machining operations, tooling selection, and dimensional verification.

Must be physically capable of performing shop-related duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Main Job Duties:
|

Read, interpret, and review complex engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, charts, and fabrication plans to determine machining operations and ensure machining processes align with production requirements, engineering standards, and project timelines.

Oversee the setup, programming, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC and manual machining equipment used in precision machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, drilling, grinding, and custom machining applications.

May provide technical guidance and support to machinists and shop personnel regarding machining methods, tooling selection, machine setups, production processes, and interpretation of engineering specifications and fabrication drawings.

Compute dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements while ensuring workpieces and finished components meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.

Inspect and verify machined components and assemblies for dimensional accuracy, fit, finish, and compliance with quality control procedures using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.

Assist with the fitting and assembly of machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools to support fabrication and assembly operations for oilfield, structural steel, and industrial projects.

Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtime, improve efficiency, and maintain production quality and operational consistency.

May assist in training, and supporting machinists and machine shop personnel on machining techniques, equipment operation, workplace safety, and quality standards.

Prepare and maintain machining documentation, setup instructions, production notes, and quality control records

Ensure compliance with company safety policies, quality assurance procedures, and applicable API, CWB, ISO, and manufacturing standards within the machine shop environment.
