Experience Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the automotive industry, including experience in automotive refinishing, vehicle painting, and collision repair.
  • Experience working with body components, front-end components, and interior components of motor vehicles.
  • Experience in vehicle surface preparation, sanding, masking, colour matching, paint mixing, and paint spraying using industry-standard equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to inspect vehicle surfaces and completed refinishing work to ensure quality standards and manufacturer specifications are met.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive paints, coatings, refinishing materials, and workplace safety procedures

Main Job Duties

  • Review damage reports and repair estimates to assess vehicle damage and plan the required repair work
  • Repair and replace damaged front-end components, body panels, doors, frames, and underbody components
  • Remove dents, buckles, and other body defects using hammers, dollies, and other specialized body repair tools
  • Perform metal finishing by soldering or applying plastic fillers to repair holes, dents, seams, and other surface imperfections
  • Remove and replace damaged fenders, panels, grilles, and related body components using hand tools, cutting equipment, and welding techniques as required
  • Straighten bent vehicle frames and underbody structures using frame alignment, pulling, and anchoring equipment
  • File, grind, sand, and prepare repaired surfaces using hand and power tools to achieve a smooth finish
  • Mask and tape vehicle surfaces to protect adjacent areas and prepare vehicles for refinishing
  • Mix, blend, and match paint colours to achieve a seamless finish consistent with manufacturer specifications
  • Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats using spray equipment or other appropriate painting methods to restore vehicle appearance
  • Repair or replace damaged interior components, including seat frame assemblies, carpets, and floorboard insulation, where required
  • Inspect completed repairs for quality, safety, and workmanship, and test drive vehicles when necessary to verify proper handling and repair quality
  • Oversee the preparation, colour matching, mixing, application, and quality control of automotive refinishing operations, while providing technical guidance, troubleshooting refinishing issues, and ensuring repairs meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards
  • May provide technical direction and support to refinishing staff on surface preparation, paint selection and mixing, application techniques, equipment setup, and interpretation of repair specifications to ensure consistent quality and compliance with manufacturer standards
  • May assist in training and supporting refinishing staff in proper surface preparation methods, refinishing techniques, equipment operation, workplace safety practices, and adherence to quality control standards

Wage: $31.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Willingness and ability to work flexible shifts and varying work schedules as required, including weekdays, weekends, and on-call assignments)

Days per week: 5 days per week (Possibly 6)

Hours per week: Minimum of 40 hours per week

Overtime: Yes (over 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week, whichever results in the greater number of overtime hours)
