Sales Supervisor – Retail

Curry Hill Retail Sales Limited is a gas station, convenience store, and truck stop with showers and an in-house restaurant, serving both local customers and highway travelers. We are seeking a Sales Supervisor – Retail to oversee front-line sales operations at our Bainsville, ON location.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising day-to-day retail and cashier operations, maintaining customer service and store presentation standards, and ensuring accurate cash handling and inventory management across shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the daily work of cashiers and retail sales associates across the convenience store and fuel/gas bar counter
• Build weekly staff schedules and assign shift coverage to keep the store adequately staffed during operating hours
• Approve customer refunds and product returns per store policy
• Handle customer complaints and concerns tied to retail or fuel purchases, and resolve stock or supply shortages as they come up
• Track convenience store inventory levels and place supplier orders to keep shelves stocked
• Compile periodic reports covering sales figures, merchandising, and staffing for management
• Recruit and onboard new cashiers and sales staff, and track their performance over time
• Keep store displays, signage, and general cleanliness consistent with presentation standards
• Jump in on the sales floor or at the till alongside staff during peak periods, including fuel and convenience purchases
• Handle store opening/closing, step in on escalated customer complaints, and sign for incoming supplier deliveries

Requirements:

Language: English

Education and Experience Requirements

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required
• Minimum 1 year of recent retail sales experience is required
• Experience working in a high-volume retail or convenience store environment is preferred
• Experience supervising or supporting staff during busy shifts is an asset

Required Skills and Technical Knowledge

• Cash handling, payment processing, and shift reconciliation procedures
• Inventory monitoring and merchandise ordering for a convenience store environment
• Store opening/closing procedures and basic security practices
• Preparation of basic sales, inventory, and staffing reports

Skills and Competencies

• Strong customer focus and ability to resolve customer concerns effectively
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities during high-volume shifts
• Effective oral communication with staff, customers, and management
• Team-oriented, with sound judgement in day-to-day decision-making
